Offline Access for Windows Logon
In an ongoing effort to support enhanced MedWatch security and compliance, MIS will be rolling out the Duo Offline Authentication to all MedWatch users beginning February 7th. Offline access for Duo Windows Logon helps you log on to Windows systems securely even when not connected to the internet.
Once the changes are pushed to all MedWatch staff, users will be prompted to set up their Duo Offline Authentication after locking or rebooting their device. You can bypass this by clicking Enroll Later, but you may experience issues logging into your device while offline.
NOTE: We have provided screenshots below of what the enrollment process will look like, but users will not see these screenshots during the activation, so you may want to print these instructions. Please call MIS if you have any trouble setting it up.

- Once Duo Mobile completes activation, you’ll need to enter a code from the app into the prompt on your Windows system to complete offline activation. Click TAKE ME TO MY OFFLINE CODE.
- Tap the WINDOWS OFFLINE account in the Duo Mobile account list to generate a six-digit passcode.
- Enter the passcode from Duo Mobile (without a space) into the offline activation screen on your computer and then click the Activate Offline Login button to finish setting up offline access.
FAQ:
- Q: What if I don’t have the app on my phone?
A: If you do not have the Duo App, you cannot log in to the computer while offline. If you cannot work, you will need to take PTO until you can login to your computer.
NOTE: This does not apply when your computer is connected to the internet. Normal Duo process can be followed when your device is online.
- Q: What if I’ve never used Duo on my phone?
A: Please call MIS to get Duo setup on your phone.
- Q: Can I work in MedWatch applications while offline?
A: No, you will still need internet connectivity to access MedWatch applications, shared drives, etc. This process is being put in place to ensure that offline devices (laptops) cannot be opened while they are offline.
