📝How to Summarize a Document with Copilot

Step 1: Open Copilot

• Go to the Copilot interface (like in Microsoft Edge, Teams, Word, or directly via a Copilot-enabled app).
• Make sure you're signed in with your work Microsoft account and see the green shield.

Step 2: Upload Your PDF

• Drag and drop your PDF file into the chat window.
  • 
• Alternatively, use the paperclip icon 📎 or Upload File button to select your PDF.

Step 3: Ask Copilot to Summarize

• Type a prompt like:

  “Can you summarize this PDF for me?”

• You can also ask for specific types of summaries:
  • “Give me a bullet-point summary.”
  • “Summarize only the introduction and conclusion.”
  • “Extract key findings and recommendations.”

Step 4: Review the Summary

• Copilot will read the PDF and generate a summary.
• You can ask follow-up questions like:
  • “What are the main arguments?”
  • “Can you simplify this for a 10-year-old?”

Step 5: Export or Copy the Summary

• You can copy the summary directly.
• Or ask Copilot:

  “Can you save this summary as a Word document or PDF?”
